Canada Pump & Power (CPP) is continually hiring Laborers to be trained and work as Pump Operators for our Fort McMurray Operations.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain Pumping System
  • Perform hourly equipment and system checks
  • Perform equipment and systems isolation
  • Conduct regular fueling and fluid checks
  • Conduct scheduled servicing of equipment
  • Inspect worksite on an ongoing and daily basis
  • Report required maintenance or deficiencies and perform required housekeeping
  • Pre-inspect and operate a pickup truck to and from various locations on worksite
  • Follow company processes and company Safe Work Procedures and Practices
  • Work within Company, Customer, and other existing standards and regulations pertaining to their scope of work
  • Reporting and rectifying of potential hazards, accidents, and near misses
  • Perform Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA)
  • Maintain hourly pump performance logs and jobsite specific logbook
  • Conduct pre-use equipment inspections
  • Gain familiarization with Customer and Canada Pump and Power rules, regulations and standards


  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Must possess a class 5 driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record
  • Must participate and pass pre-access physical fitness testing
  • Must participate and pass pre-access screening for drugs, alcohol and controlled substances
  • Must obtain a criminal record check
  • Must possess Construction Safety Training Association (CSTS) and Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) Regional Orientation
  • OR Basic Safety Orientation (BSO)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in pumping systems
  • Pass the Pumps 100 course given at interview
  • Experience at Alberta Oil Sands Sites considered an asset
