About Canada Pump and Power

At Canada Pump and Power (CPP), our goal is to be the best and easiest solution for projects in our four core competencies – Dive, Pump, Barge, Dredge – for all of our existing and future clients.

CPP has developed its own line of patented products under the Mighty brand.

We’ve created a better way to pump and dredge–a less expensive, more efficient way that’s safer for the environment—and for people too.

Our Mighty Pumps are the toughest pumping systems in the world—designed to pump more and last longer while consuming less fuel.

The award-winning Mighty Dredge is the world’s only autonomous dredge.

This innovative technology is changing the way solids are extracted from water. Using an underwater robot that’s fully-controlled and remotely-monitored by computer, the Mighty Dredge knows where it is, what it’s doing, and what to do next. It also knows what it’s pumping so it can speed up, slow down, dig harder, or back off to maximize productivity automatically.

The Mighty Dredge replaces existing equipment that provides slow, inconsistent results that are hard to measure. Our ground breaking technology can move more solids while utilizing less water than a conventional dredge because it’s always digging. It will even complete a hydrographic survey while it’s dredging and update information in real time.

The Mighty Dredge can work continuously with no recovery cycle—in toxic environments, extreme weather conditions and at great depths. This reduces operating costs up to 75%, essentially eliminates human risk, and greatly increases the potential for water remediation.

We’re excited about the potential to open up many new areas to remediation that were previously considered too dangerous or expensive to reclaim.

Our goal is to make our innovative technology available globally.

Our Founder

Founder and CEO Jeremy Leonard’s journey started in 1979 when he became the first commercial diver in the Fort McMurray, Alberta area. This experience led to the creation of Canada Pump and Power in 2010.

“I was so excited to get to go diving. I would get up early and stay up late to make it happen. My engineer/economist-trained brain wanted to have more adventures, so my company grew.”

Mr. Leonard is driven by the need to find solutions to deal with toxic water-body contamination and reclamation, sparking the invention of new technologies. R&D has been a hallmark of Canada Pump and Power and will continue to be key to our competitive advantage in designing and manufacturing innovative engineered solutions in diving, dredging, pumping, and barging.

Canada Pump and Power was built by providing dredging and dewatering for Canada’s Oil Sands tailings ponds and we continue to have a strong presence in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Headquartered in Ardrossan, Alberta, CPP operates a manufacturing facility in Redwater, has a sister company in Oahu, Hawaii and an office in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
